Point Shoal Lighthouse Model

 15 Oct 21:

We have been exploring our new stomping grounds and found a nice model of the Point Shoal Screwpile Lighthouse at Smithfield Station. The model was made by local maritime historian Larry Saint.

Deck Rails

15 Oct 21:

Since we were bored and had nothing else to do......, we decided to add rails to the porch. All the boatbuilding tools got pressed into service to install brackets in the concrete, which hold the 4x4 posts and PVC sleeves that the rails are connected to.  We scored a new hammer drill along the way. 4 bow rails finished, Port and Starboard come next, then the ladderwell rails.

Tow Vehicle Upgrade

 15 Oct 21:

Upgraded our 2013 Forde Edge to a 2020 Ford Edge ST. 335 V-6 twin spool turbo and All Wheel Drive should be plenty for our fleet. Tow capacity is 3500 pounds, our heaviest trailer maxes out at 1500 pounds.

"SUPER SANDY" joins SUPER GUMBY (Outback XT), SUPER POKEY (F350 RV) and SUPER SALLY (Mustang convertible).

Note to self: Don't move to another State with a fleet of cars, trailers and boats unless you enjoy spending days and days at DMV and the Department of Wildlife Resources.

Dirt...and lots of it

15 Oct 21:

Very little boating has happened over the last 30 days, we have been doing recon on some launch spots in our new area. We also are working on the Buildings and Grounds at the new Mid Atlantic Station, this week we had 6 dump trucks of dirt brought in to grade the yard. A nice flat yard is essential at the boat yard to move trailers and dollies around for when we TETRIS or do yard sailing to check rigging.

Luckily we are having  our yard crew do this project, power raking and Fall grass seed come next.
