The Southern Episcopal Diocese of Virginia held the second Matoaka Covenant at Chanco On the James. The covenant is a dialogue with indigenous Nations, the Church and whoever would like to join the discourse. One of the actions we expect is to act as Stewards for our natural surroundings.
Chanco On the James is just a few miles upriver from our Warraskoyack neighborhood, these tribes were part of the Powhatan Confederacy.
Nice riverfront facility.
The Indigenous Perspectives traveling display from the Library of Virginia.
I had a good time making some new friends and hope we gather again soon.
