Book Stand Angled

 05 Apr 23:

We mentioned we were gathering a lot of books for research, and now needed a small book stand to keep them handy. I planned to make one but we happened across one at a moving sale. We like the simple bottom and back, and the graceful ogee on the ends. With a little adaptation it would look nice on a boat.

The moving sale...an interesting story. An early 1900s home near Main Street was the location of the moving sale, and while we weren't really looking for anything in particular we thought it would be an opportunity to walk through the nice old home. As we went down one hall we saw some framed family photos and news articles hanging on a wall, and being amateur genealogists we paused to take a look. As it turns out the Jordan family in the photos is a not so distant cousin of Skipper's. The house itself had not been in the Jordan family for decades, but the couple who were selling the house had met a Jordan descendant and they had taken the time and the care to pull together the memories from the home. Very wonderful of them to do so. Now Skipper has a few more cousin stories.

Now we wonder if the book stand was in any way tied back to the Jordans?

We liked the design and will make a pattern from it. If you're interested in a copy, send us a note at lewis.kent@gmail.com

Cheers

Clark and Skipper
