Ordered a new self bailer for our ODay Daysailer II. It is the same as a Sunfish bailer except it has a longer neck. And it was more expensive. So if the bottom part of the bailer on you ODay gets damaged, just buy a Sunfish bailer and scavenge the bottom part.

How long is the top part of a O'Day selfbailer?
ReplyDeleteI don't know, but it is longer than a Sunfish bailer. Check with Rudy at D&R Marine, he sells O'Day parts.
ReplyDeleteI am not having much luck refurbishing a DS II Persea bailer -it's a corroded mess. Rudy has no replacements. Is there any way the Sunfish bailer can be jury-rigged to work in the Daysailer?
ReplyDeleteDo you have the inner part of the bailer, the long neck? If so, it usually fits the bottom Sunfish part.
ReplyDeleteHi Clark,
ReplyDeleteI finally removed old Depersia bailer. It was a corroded mess. I used a Dremel grinder to cut off the retaining nut, knocked off the bottom piece and then a hacksaw blade to cut slots in the lining pipe. It looked like the the gap between the VEE hull and flat bailer was filled with silicone. Considering that the plastic bailer isn't as sturdy as the metal piece I'd like to fill in the gap with something other than Silicone. What would you suggest?
