Sail and spar rehab

Picked up a sail, spars and mast. They're in pretty good shape overall, but hardware and lines need some work

From Sunfish Sailboat

This line is not the right size and needs to be replaced. Also we can put on an outhaul cap on the lower spar to guard against foredeck scratches

From Sunfish Sailboat

Upper spar has a bend, sail is dirty

From Sunfish Sailboat

Halyard is too big, duct tape and hose clamp need to be removed

From Sunfish Sailboat

Blocks are not stainless and not factory, corroded and need to be replaced

From Sunfish Sailboat

Replaced line with an S hook, changed lower spar end cap to the outhaul cap style, this helps protect foredeck from interlocking bolt scrapes. While spars were apart I straightened and cleaned upper spar

From Sunfish Sailboat

Laid out outhaul lines for installation

From Sunfish Sailboat

Tied a bowline on clew, went through outhaul, clew outhaul the tied some half hitches

From Sunfish Sailboat

Drilled rivet head to remove old block and prep to install salvaged factory hardware

From Sunfish Sailboat

Here's tools needed to remove rivet and install new rivet

From Sunfish Sailboat

Rivet removed, gently pry up eyestrap to slide on new block

From Sunfish Sailboat

Rivet holds on eyestrap. Use a collar (washer) if hole is oversized

From Sunfish Sailboat

Rivet pin goes into gun

From Sunfish Sailboat

Rivet goes through eyestrap and into spar

From Sunfish Sailboat

Rivet installed with block salvaged for old spliced spar. Both blocks were replaced.

From Sunfish Sailboat

Spar was bent and I used a tree to straighten

From Sunfish Sailboat

Sail is cleaned, spars straightened, hardware and rigging put back to factory, S hook and outhaul cap added
