TETRIS

 15 Jan 21:

WAVE is ready for Sea Trials and she will need her slip in the Sunfish Shack back soon, so that generated a round of TETRIS. CHIP was in her spot, so CHIP got pulled out to move to MADISON's spot, But there was a wagon, RED 1, in front of MADISON, so RED1 1, and RED 2, got moved back to the porch as did the power washers and the carpenter's bench, which all had been removed when we painted the porch. MADISON was pulled up front to the Wheel Deck for repair to her damaged chine.

The Fleet Is In...Or Out...Carriage House TETRIS

23 Nov 20:

Tropical Storm season winding down, Carriage House and Sunfish Shack TETRIS cranking up. Started off just planning to move our Penobscot ST. JACQUES out of the Carriage House around back to the Sunfish Shack. By the time we finished we had moved the wooden Sunfish CHIP and ZIP, Super Sailfish TRACKER, AMF Sunfish MADISON and Standard Sailfish WINNIE out to the Sunfish Shack. That made room to move our Sunfish PHOENIX and WAVE into the Carriage House so we can begin their repairs.

Tropical Storm Nestor TETRIS

19 Oct 19:

We had Tropical Storm Nestor heading our way, so that generated a round of TETRIS. We had some boxes packed and in the garage, prep for our upcoming Tidewater move. Well that move will probably happen in the Spring, so we decided to move the packed boxes back inside, and get Mustang SALLY out of the Carriage House and back into her garage spot.

Once SALLY moved we were able to stow ST. JACQUES, PHOENIX, SACAGAWEA, CLARK and SCOUT in the Carriage House with WAVE.

TS Nestor came and went, with a little rain and wind. SCOUT and her buddies moved back out to their tree.

Pod TETRIS

10-11 Sep 19:

Picked up SMEDLEY, Eddie and his team made the trailer 15' 6" so it will fit in a Pods moving and storage container. They cut off about a foot on the tongue, and the trailer looks better and still tows great. We had asked for a longer tongue when we had the trailer built, thinking we could back the boat all the way into the water, but it turned out it was easy to get the boat on and off the trailer with the rollers.

The Pod arrived and SMEDLEY fits! With room to spare on the side.

Once SMEDLEY was in we built a rack over the top. It holds the Super Sailfish ZSA ZSA and Sunfish MADISON. Suspended above is our wooden Sunfish ZIP, and below are the Standard Sailfish WINNIE and wooden Sunfish CHIP. The rack also held all of the spars and sails, there was also room for 4 Dynamic Dollies which break down easily. We also put the compact planer in the Pod and all of our boat patterns.

Once half of the Carriage House was empty we put out the Halloween yard art and moved in the Mustang.

Boat TETRIS

06 Sep 19:

We are changing homeports, moving the Gulf Squadron North to become the Atlantic Squadron, heading to the Tidewater region. So Boat TETRIS begins! The initial plan was to load a 26 foot UHaul with as many Sunfish, Sailfish and Catfish as possible, maybe the Penobscot too, but Skipper came up with better plan of renting a Pods container and let someone else transport them. So scrap this plan for a 26 foot UHaul and adapt it to a 16 foot Pods container.

The Catfish trailer is at Eddie's getting the tongue shortened, total trailer length 15' so it will fit in the Pod. We will build a rack over the top of it for other boats.

We have 3 other trailers to move, For the Lugger, Day Sailer and Runabout. Edge will tow one, a Uhaul will tow another and the third tow vehicle is TBD, either UShip or Uhaul.

Fun!

Boat TETRIS and Finishing Dolly

30 Nov 18:

Need to work on the deck of the Super Sailfish so that generated a round of boat TETRIS. The first move was to get CHIP off of the Sunfish finishing dolly using Skipper's boat hoist.

The dolly is modeled after the finishing dolly used by LASER Performance, when they used to be in Portsmouth, RI. It has articulating bunks so the boats can be supported hull down or deck down.

We moved CHIP onto the sawhorse dolly that ZSA ZSA had vacated.

Next we hoisted ZSA ZSA off of the Dynamic Dolly.

Then she went onto the finishing dolly.

And back onto the Alcort Working Museum. ZIP resumed duties holding down the Dynamic Dolly. WINNIE slept through the whole evolution.
