Wheel Deck Hoist Rigging Hardware

 20 Mar 22:

We gathered up all of the rigging and hardware for the Wheel Deck boat hoist, most of it is Wilcox, Crittenden and Company, Inc. bronze halyard blocks, eyestraps and snap shackles and the line is vintage Sunfish sheets. There are two different cleats that are not for Sunfish, but also Wilcox and Crittenden. One is an interesting little jam cleat.

Wheel Deck Decking

 20 Feb 22:

SUPER SANDY towed HUEY to pick up decking for the wheel deck. Our new tiedown straps worked great, easy and fast to use.

All of the 2x6 deck joists were blocked level and fit in today, time consuming as we worked to incorporate the 5x8 table top, which was made from 2x4s. We added a ramp and SMEDLEY took part in static load testing.

The top of the posts are wrapped with 2x6 pressure treated pine. Fastened with Timberlok screws, much faster and just as strong as lag screws.

The scuppernong grape plants that we saved from construction bulldozers will climb up the 2 center posts, and a wisteria that we saved from Florida is on the right side post.

Small Boat TETRIS ZSA ZSA and CHIP

03 Jan 19:

Prepositioned the Alcort Super Sailfish ZSA ZSA out to the Sunfish Shack for Sea Trials, borrowed Sunfish PHOENIX's dolly. Skipper suggested rigging another hoist using Sunfish eyestraps, sheet, halyard block and halyard cleats. ZSA ZSA will find a permanent spot in the collection after Sea Trials.

1965 Alcort Sunfish CHIP moved from the temporary dolly onto the Finishing Dolly.

Alcort Super Sailfish ZSA ZSA 25 Dec 18 Hull Graphics and Varnish

25 Dec 18:

The stockings were raided, dinner finished and still a few hours left before sunset, so we rolled ZSA ZSA out to Skipper's boat hoist and flipped her.

Drew the arcs for the graphics on each corner of the hull. Extremely technical, only a few folks are qualified to do this step.

Applied a coat of TotalBoat WetEdge Fire Red with a 2 inch angled sash brush from Lowes. Skipper likes the short handle of the sash, it is lighter and easier to maneuver in tight spots. Taped along the seam with blue tape and free handed the arc.

I was thinking that the HEUER GARAGE sign should really be JACK'S BOATYARD, but he was not responsible for the acquisition of ZSA ZSA, that responsibility rests on Clark and Skipper. Jack was only responsible for ONKAHYE, CYANE, WAVE, MADISON, PHOENIX, SCOUT and LEWIS. SUGAR 2 to some extent.

First coat of TotalBoat Halcyon Amber Gloss on the blades and mast collar.

Merry Christmas!

Boat Hoist

I used this setup to lift Phoenix off of the trailer, and then a nice windstorm came along, but she stayed nice and secure.
