Mariner's Archive

 13 Feb 22:

I got tired of looking at the stack of nautical books stacked in the "Library" aka spare bedroom, so today they got sorted into the "Archives" aka spare bedroom closet. Since we built some new bookshelves for our family photos we had some store bought bookcases left over to house the Mariner's Archive.

One of our favorite fun books, it has not been updated since 1999. Time to start logging new muck abouts. The cover of the log paused us to think about our friend Webb, who would have a few unusual enties in his circumnavigation logs.

The yet to be sorted stack of ephemera.

We've filled up one binder of Sunfish/Sailfish/Catfish information, and have at least another binder of information floating loose in the Library. A new book will be coming soon, The Wooden Sunfish Owner's Manual, written in concert with the build of a 2023 wooden Sunfish, just in time for the 70th Anniversary of the Alcort Sunfish.

Alcort has had some great ads through the years, here's a Super Sailfish being sailed Skipper Style, sheeting in with your teeth.

As far as we got today was to get the Archives sorted alphabetically. The top shelf contains our project binders and research, a good bit of which involves the NC-4 Flying Boat. We're real happy with having a chart and plans corral, as they seemed to wander all around the house in the past.

Eye candy.

An oldie but a goodie.
