Small Train Restoration

 04 May 22:

I got pressed into service to make benchwork for the new model train layout. Simple construction, 4x4 legs, 1x4 joists and aprons with a 3/4 inch plywood top. We tried working on the driveway but discovered that the forest was much cooler, so we hauled the tools and lumber out to the helicopter LZ.

A tip for cutting sheet goods, use a piece of scrap XPS foamboard as a cushion, it also lets the saw blade make a cut without hitting dirt or concrete.

There's Skipper Skippervising.

Fun little project in the woods, with our friends helping.

I got a little confused about what Skipper meant by scale model railroading, thought this was a steam locomotive.

But Skipper got me back on track....and we had the first loops of track down and trains running in a few days.

If only Skipper would bring me a sandwich.

Back to boats now.
