Seems WoodenBoat magazine jumped onboard and dedicated a whole page to having a sharp pencil in the latest issue number 266. Makes sense, if trying to make a precise cut, we might need a precise line, not a 1/32" wide line. The new model X-ACTO has left hand helix blades that cut towards the point, who knew that the old models cut the other way? The result is a consistently sharper point, but you can grind a lot of pencil away fast. We recently moved our sharpener up a bit and got the screws set real tight, she is a machine now. It ended by coincidence next to some of our other measuring tools. Here's a few other pics of our tool shelves. One of my favorite gadgets is the 2 foot folding Carpenter's Rule. Finished up the day unboxing a box of goodies from Jamestown Distributors, used our Colonial Rigging knife to cut the tape. I guess our post on the knife was so popular that the WoodenBoat Store sold out, but they are back in stock now.
Back to the sharpener, a sharp point can make quite a difference.
Another one of our favorites, the 2 foot folding carpenter's rule.
PPE shelf, safety glasses, respirators and gloves.
