1980 Drascombe Lugger ONKAHYE 06 Jun 20 Cockpit Inspection

06 Jun 20:

We always like to keep ONKAHYE's cockpit filled with only her gear, so she's ready to roll at a moment's notice. A few other items had found there way in there for temporary storage, SMEDLEY and SCOUT's sail and some old PFDs that we saved to use as cushions. We moved those items and looked to see what else was in the cockpit.

Bilge pump and foghorn, gotta have that...

Capn Jack's burgees. He had his friends on the night shift at the chemical plant make these brackets for the main yard and the mizzen mast, they work great.

The green bags I got at USMC Boot Camp in 1979. They have held up amazingly well, in 2 Marine environments. They hold burgess, ensigns, a First Aid Kit, styrofoam cups, spare hats and extra line. The yellow box has motor tool pouches, extra kill swith lanyard, screw driver, channel locks, local chart, compass, small binoculars, and handheld depth sounder, spare sunglasses, day signal, whistle, spare rigging bits like keeper rings and clevis pins.

Our assortment of galley items, insulated bag, small cooler, the amazing Aladdin water jug and a Sunfish insulated bag. The Aladdin water jug is filled with ice, then topped with water. The water is served in a fine styrofoam cup and it is the coldest and most refreshing water you will ever drink. The step stool is used to get in out of the boat while rigging, not underway....hmmm...I wonder...The old PFD aft is used to cushion the spars while trailering.

4 PFDs, plus we have 2 more for kayaks/canoe/dinghy sailing.

Log of ONKAHYE.
