We applied TotalBoat Gleam Satin Varnish to the thwarts, The thwart on the left in the photo below has the second coat drying, and we can start to see how the luster is deepening. The other two thwarts have the first coat, with the angle of the thwart on the right playing a little lighting trick. We prefer a satin finish, it's part of our workboat fit and finish philosophy, the satin finish is easier on our eyes, and combined with the eased edges on the nautical furniture the boat looks well used and well loved.
It didn't take long for Skipper to appear out of thin air and take the varnish brush away from me.
