Sunfish Shack Roof

08 Jul 23:

We added 2 more rows of metal roofing to the Sunfish Shack, and now we can get all of the boats under cover, except of course poor ole SMEDLEY. But soon enough her time will come when we get the last 6 panels installed. TETRIS ensued.

The last 3 sections are ready for purlins, the 1x4 cross supports that go on top of the 2x6 rafters. The purlins keep the panel from sagging between the rafters.

We also started adding the ramp boars, 2x6 lumber with a 45 degree angle cut on the yard end. We put a little gravel trench for the yard end to rest on, to help water drain and reduce rot caused by ground contact. We use 2x4 strips for the ledger board at the top of the ramp to screw down one end of the ramp boards, and a 2x6 underneath in the middle that rests on concrete pavers every 8 feet or so, to provide support and another place to put screws.

SCOUT is back in her canoe  cubby and ST. JACQUES found her spot.

Our Sunfish (L-R) WAVE, PHOENIX and MADISON are settled in, and SACAGAWEA snuck in their also.

SMEDLEY will move to the other end soon, where there will be room to sit under cover on her trailer.

Just in time for the rain!
