Constant's Wharf Small Boats

 11 Apr 22:

As we wander around our new stomping grounds in the Tidewater Region of Virginia, we are continually drawn to the historic wharf in Suffolk. In the 1720s, John Constant settled along the Nansemond river (in what is now Suffolk) and built a home, wharf, and warehouse. The East Coast railroads also emerged from this area, and at nearby Suffolk Seaboard Depot there is a model railroad that depicts rail and water activity from the past. What we like about the ship models is that the modeler took time to include the ship's boats as part of the scene, rare from our experience. Without small boats, none of this activity could have happened.

The entire model railroad layout is phenomenal, with several award winning buildings scattered throughout.
