Pondering Trailering

27 Apr 22:

So we've been around trailed boats since the 1960s, and got spoiled during our time living on the waterfront from 2011-2021. Back to being trailer sailors, and we need to get ST. JACQUES set up to get the boat and gear down the road safely.

For short trips below highway speeds, a lot of gear can ride in the boat, but we want to make sure that the gear doesn't damage the hull, like this little anchor. A towel works for padding.

Other items will need to be secured, such as sail rig, lines, oars, etc...A good cover would take care of this, and padding with towels or seat cushions. The rigging line can also be used to tie things down.

I think we'll make what I call chocks, little pieces of wood that can hold saprs in place while in Road Mode. Herreshoff did this with the Amphicraft.
