The Rudder - A Journal of Aquatic Sport Vol. 1, No.1 1890

We enjoy looking through vintage copies of The Rudder, a journal that began publication in 1890. There is a good focus on small boats of all kinds, before the days of lightweight gasoline and diesel motors. Many of the designs are still relevant today, especially those of J. H. Rushton.

An early initiative of the Rudder's staff was to start the Corinthian Navy, a boat club of sorts, that gathered like souls interested in sailing and racing boats under 23 foot waterline. Several squadrons were formed and services were shared.
