10 years ago we had been asked to check out an 1880s Mississippi River Skiff named BARBASHELA, to see if there were enough parts to save and create an exhibit that would at least represent her shape to a Museum audience. I loaded up Skipper's parents and we went to Biloxi to see what parts were available, bits that were recovered after Hurricane Katrina damaged the boat in 2005. Here's one of the pictures that we took on Day One.
Skipper's Mom looked at the flotsam and assuredly claimed that "We can rebuild that." Skipper saw the photos and said "Not only can we rebuild the boat, we'll row it."
Here's Skipper meeting BARBASHELA for the first time, when we loaded the skiff onto a stretcher to haul her back to Navarre.
