1930s Bahamas Dinghy Float Test

 10 Jan 26:

We launched the 1930s Bahamas Dinghy HENNING today at Tyler's Beach for a Float Test. She had been laid up since 1980, and she passed with floating colors! The only slight streamer leak we found was the old sealant around the drain plug housing, just a trickle. Audrey got in first to look for leaks, checks out seating on every thwart, then I hopped in and rowed a bit. HENNING is quick, not much boat to move and she carries well. She rolls a bit getting in but hardens up once she gets over a few degrees We will put sealant over the backside of the caulking inside the hull, there are a few gaps above the waterline. We had maybe one other small seeper, that should swell after she is in the water a bit. Then we'll continue with painting the interior and work on the sailing rig. Huzzah HENNING!

Skipper looking for leaks.

A tiny bit of water comining in around failed sealant at the drain plug housing.

Skipper checked out all of the thwarts.

Gettin off the shoal...

The sail rig will help with balance a bit, other wise I need to scoot my live ballast forward a bit or carry ballast.

HENNING's waterline forward without a useful load.

The aft waterline is right where we imagined it would be.

The dolly crew.

We brought a little of the river bottom back with us.

HENNING got a freshwater rinse and the trailer HUEY II got pressure washed, she was turning algae green.

The Marine Traffic Control board is updated! The boat at the top has been on the most recent mess about.
