From Motor Boating Jan 1951 p 176:
"The Sailfish Sportabout, portable "sailing speedboat" introduced by Alcort, Inc., Waterbury, Conn., in 1949, has spawned a family of three ready-to-sail models and two knocked-down kit versions for '51.
The new Standard Sailfish 12 is offered in a handsome new finish and with several refinements in hardware detail.
The 1951 Deluxe 12 features two noteworthy improvements. A streamlined Dri-deck Coaming effectively deflects water from the seating area. New Barfair processed colored sails made by Ratsey and Lapthorne are both water repellent and mildew proof. The Deluxe 12 comes in two distinctive color combinations.
With its additional two feet of length, proportionately greater beam and a larger 75 square feet of sail, the new Sailfish 14 carries two adults. Seating area is protected by the new Dri-deck Coaming. The hull, though considerably larger, is light enough to be transported readily on an ordinaru car-top carrier and easily launched.
The Sailfish 12 kit is again available for those who want the fun, and welcome the big saving, of assembling a boat themselves. A new Sailfish 14 kit is also offered this year to permit home assembly of the larger boat. The kit has the same labor-saving pre-cut, pre-formed and pre-assembled parts. It goes together quickly and easily without special tools, and everything but paint and varnish is included.
The manufacture and distribution of Sailfish boats and kits in Canada is handled by thr Tak-Kraft Mfg. Co. in Montreal."
